The New Jersey Alliance for Social, Emotional and Character Development is the state sponsor of the New Jersey Schools of Character Program.
The Schools of Character Program offers a pathway to school improvement by providing a proven framework (the 11 Principles of Effective Character Education), professional feedback on the status of your school’s efforts to embody the standards, and models of excellence.
New Jersey Schools of Character (NJSOC) are selected by NJASECD for having reached a standard of excellence within in the area of character development. The applications of schools recognized as NJSOCs are forwarded to the Character Education Partnership for consideration at the national level.
NJASECD provides opportunities to network with and learn from state and national schools of character. National and New Jersey Schools of Character provide workshops through our annual conference, welcome site visits and offer consultation.
