NJASECD also presented during the SEL4NJ Summit on SEL Day in 2023. Bill Trusheim and Laurie Coletti spoke about the importance of Social, Emotional, and Character Development (SECD) in shaping a positive environment for learning. This presentation focused on a school improvement process following the “Eleven Principles” framework, making the connection between SEL and Character Strengths, the importance of core values in shaping school culture and climate, integrating SECD in the curriculum, and ideas for improving school culture and climate for students, staff, and community stakeholders.
